Student Pairs Peers for Lasting FriendshipsStudent Pairs Peers for Lasting Friendships Jefferson Award Winner: Jasmine Nachtigall Reporting Kate Kelly (CBS 5) Whether Jasmine Nachtigall is on the court as captain of the tennis team, or performing her duties as Concert Mistress on first violin, or studying for her 4.8 grade point average, this Hillsdale High School senior is impressive. But there's one classroom where Jasmine feels she's really making a difference: the room that's home to Hillsdale's Best Buddies club, a program that pairs typical students with their special education peers. Jasmine is the group's president. \"We all have our family, we have our professionals, and then we have our friends,\" Jasmine explains. \"But a lot of people with disabilities, they don't have that extra sphere, that friendship.\" Jasmine knows personally the impact of this division.
