Our Mission: Engage workplace adults in structured activities that make a life-changing difference for youth living in economically and educationally disadvantaged neighborhoods.
While we operate a site-based tutor/mentor program serving 7th to 12th grade teens living in the Cabrini Green area of Chicago, we also lead the Tutor/Mentor Connection (T/MC), which is dedicated to the growth of comprehensive, volunteer-based tutor/mentor programs in all poverty neighborhoods of the Chicago.
Since 1993 more than 500 teens have participated in Cabrini Connections, with 36% participating for 3 to 7 consecutive years. Youth participate in one-on-one tutoring/mentoring, and in learning programs that incorporate arts, technology, communications, etc.
At the same time the T/MC has built a network connecting more than 200 Chicago tutor/mentor programs with each other, and a web based library that provides information to volunteers, leaders, donors from cities throughout the world.
