Stephen Alltop, Music DirectorStephen Alltop has built a career based on excellence in several disciplines, conducting both orchestral and choral ensembles, and performing as a keyboard artist. The 2009-10 season marks Mr. Alltop's 14th season as Music Director of the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra. Under Mr. Alltop's direction, the Elmhurst Symphony completed a performance cycle of Beethoven's Symphonies, presented Mahler's Symphonies 1, 2 and 3, and has given world premieres of works by Alan Terricciano, Jan Bach, James Clemens, Miguel del Aguila, Frank Ferko, and Maxwell Raimi. The Elmhurst Symphony has received recognition from the Illinois Council of Orchestras for innovative programming, volunteer activities and overall achievement. This year will be Dr. Alltop's ninth as Music Director and Conductor of the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra and his 12th season as Music Director of the Apollo Chorus of Chicago. He also serves as Associate Conductor of the Peninsula Music Festival in Wisconsin. Dr. Alltop has been a member of the conducting faculty of Northwestern University since 1992. In addition to conducting, he has appeared extensively as keyboard soloist, orchestral and chamber musician, and recording artist. Between June and October of 2006, he conducted concerts in the Italian cities of Perugia, Bologna and Rovereto. Stephen Alltop is represented by Joanne Rile Artist Management. The ESO Report, Brand New!The Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra, an award-winning community orchestra, is beginning its 49th season of great music. Having been honored as \"Community Orchestra of the Year\" by the Illinois Council of Orchestras, it continues to reach new heights of excellence. Local favorite Jeffrey Panko made his ESO solo debut in one of the most majestic piano concertos of all time, Bethoven's Fourth . The ESO, Elmhurst Choral Union and the Elmhurst College Choir combined forces to present Johannes Brahms' work of sumptuous beauty and warmth - \"Nanie\" and Ludwig van Beethoven's \"Choral Fantasy, Op. 80\". This concert will be re-broadcast by COMCAST on Channel 6 during the month of September. This is a COMCAST COMMUNITY program of the \"Our Kind of Town\" series by the City of Elmhurst. This concert's airdates can also be viewed in 33 other west suburban communities on channel 6 or 110. The September airdates on Comcast Channel 6: Saturday, September 6 - 7 P.M.
