The Spanish-language Media Program works to increase the number and quality of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Latino images in Spanish language news and entertainment media. GLAAD uses a combined strategy of providing media literacy trainings to Latino/a LGBT activists and journalists, garnering media attention for major events, conferences and Pride festivals, and exposing defamation when it occurs. GLAAD has been collaborating with LGBT Latina/o organizations in the United States to eliminate stereotypes and promote fair, accurate and inclusive representation of this community in all types of media. GLAAD has also been working with mainstream Latino and Spanish-speaking media professionals from Televisa, Unvision, Telemundo, Azteca América, CNN en Español, La Opinion, Hoy, and People en Español to help shape the way these media outlets cover LGBT Latina/o issues.
