The mission of Georgia Avenue Community Ministry is to provide food in an affirming environment for neighbors in need and to do so in a way that the recipients invest in the process to gain ownership in and help to create communities in which to exercise their own giftedness and power.
%newline%Our members are low-income families primarily but not exclusively in southeast Atlanta.
%newline%Our largest program is the Georgia Avenue Food Cooperative which seeks to be an empowerment model to provide food security and aid people to stay in their homes. GACM is a faith-based Christian organization which will serve anyone in need regardless of religion, race, etc., as long as we have the capacity. We consider ourselves to be an asset-based community development organization. We presently have 5 food co-ops with a total of 250 families. Key words for us are community, hunger, poverty, dignity, homelessness, Christian, food, co-op, empowerment. (more)
