The mission of Georgia Avenue Community Ministry is to provide food in an affirming environment for neighbors in need and to do so in a way that the recipients invest in the process to gain ownership in and help to create communities in which to exercise their own giftedness and power.
%newline%Our members are low-income families primarily but not exclusively in southeast Atlanta.
%newline%Our largest program is the Georgia Avenue Food Cooperative which seeks to be an empowerment model to provide food security and aid people to stay in their homes. GACM is a faith-based Christian organization which will serve anyone in need regardless of religion, race, etc., as long as we have the capacity. We consider ourselves to be an asset based community development organization. Key words for us are community, hunger, poverty, dignity, homelessness, Christian, food, co-op, empowerment. (more)
