Animal Foster ProgramThe Helotes Humane Society does not have a physical shelter building, so we rely on people to become fosters for our animals in need. We provide the veterinary care, the food and the adoption opportunities. You provide the care, transportation to and from the vet and adoption clinics, and most importantly the love.
Helotes Humane Society Pet Food BankDuring hard economic times, many people will give up their pets because they cannot afford to feed them. We want to prevent this so we created a pet food bank. Our bank distributes pet food to those that may be facing the difficult decision of whether or not to feed themselves or their pets. We also supply pet food to our foster families and to other animal organizations if donations permit. Donations of pet food are always needed and welcome.
MonetaryWe gladly accept monetary donations and corporate matching gifts. We are a 501c3 non profit so your generous contribution is tax deductible to the extent established by the IRS.
Helotes Humane Society Needs a HomeThe Helotes Humane Society operates in a fast growing community that borders San Antonio Texas. Although San Antonio has a large animal control facility and a equally large Humane Society of its' own, Helotes does not. The city of Helotes is one of the fastest growing in the area, yet it has only one animal control officer and contracts with the city of Leon Valley to hold stray or abandoned animals. A humane shelter would be of great benefit to the community as a whole. The Helotes Humane Society is poised to take on the responsibility of running such a shelter, if the land for it was donated. Currently, they pay for boarding of a few dogs that they are unable to place into foster homes, as is their current practice. To talk with a board member about donating land for a shelter, please email: hhsanimals@yahoo.com or call 210.422.6242.
