Annual Donation AppealThis year, our industry is experiencing massive restructuring at both state and federal levels. While much of this effort is focused on improving the quality of hospices, there is always the concern of rate reductions.
Because of this, 2008 is proving to be a busy and exciting year.
Here are some of the projects in process:
• We are seeking a Medicaid waiver for children with life-threatening illnesses to help cover costs of care.
• Initiatives for dying veterans. Again this year, approximately 25,000 veterans from Illinois (mostly from World War II and the Korean War) will die. These deserving men and women, especially those who had combat experience, have very special needs. This year, we are expanding our efforts by developing education materials for both professionals and the public.
We also continue our educational events for hospice professionals from all parts of Illinois. Your donation to IL-HPCO will support these and other programs.
