Cambodian girls are at-risk of lacking primary education by virtue of some seemingly intractable reasons. When young girls – particularly from rural areas – are not enrolled in school nor adequately educated, they become much more vulnerable to exploitation. The reasons for low school enrollment among girls in Cambodia are many: gender inequality, remote locations, impassable roads, poverty-striken families, family farming practices and other cultural norms. Whatever the reasons, Lotus Outreach is committed to enrolling girls in school.
