The MSPCA's foster care program is a life saving extension of our adoption centers. Our foster families volunteer to temporarily care for and treat horses, chicks, dogs, cats, rabbits and ducklings (to name a few) until they are ready to find new permanent homes. Foster families provide a nurturing environment in their home where the animal(s) can receive the care they need to grow, heal, and socialize. This improves their chances of finding a new, loving home. Some may need regular training, others need a quieter space and still others may have medical or special needs that would be better cared for in a home environment. The time required to foster varies depending on the species, it can be as little as one week or many months depending on the needs of the particular animal.(more)
