WORLD KIDNEY DAY IS MARCH 12, 2009The purpose of World Kidney Day is to raise awareness about the importance of our kidneys - an amazing organ that plays a crucial role in keeping us alive and well - and to spread the message that kidney disease is common, harmul & treatable.
Boston Kidney WalkSunday, May 17, 2009The National Kidney Foundation Kidney Walk is non-competitive pledge event. The focus is to educate the community about the threat of kidney disease and the miracle of transplantation. The Walk represents an occasion for dialysis patients, organ transplant recipients, organ donor families, the medical community and general public to celebrate life. The Kidney Walk is just under 5K and is it not physically demanding. This is a family-friendly event. Zoo admission is free to all registered participants (minimum fundraising applies). There will be entertainment, refreshments, and snacks. Free parking is available.
Gift of Life DinnerThursday, January 22, 2009The Gift of Life Awards Dinner is a celebration of the miracle of organ and tissue donation and transplantation. Through the unselfish act of organ and tissue donation, patients are given a second chance at life. Fishercats BaseballSaturday, June 27, 2009The National Kidney Foundation of MA, RI, NH & VT and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (AA Affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays) have teamed up for a special awareness night against the Portland Sea Dogs (AA Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox) to spread awareness about the threat of Chronic Kidney Disease and the importance of organ donation. Kidney disease affects over 40 million people nationally. Twenty-six million people are affected directly with kidney disease and an additional 20 million may be at risk of having some form of kidney-related disease. This night of baseball will also serve as the kick off event for the 2009 NH Kidney Walk. The Kidney Walk is scheduled for Sunday, September 20 in Manchester, NH. The walk is a non-competitive pledge-based event focusing primarily on education and prevention of kidney and urinary tract disease. The Walk represents an occasion for dialysis patients, organ transplant recipients, organ donor families, the medical community and the general public to celebrate life and support the National Kidney Foundation. We are pleased to have David Axelrod, MD, Section Chief, Transplantation Surgery of Dartmouth �Hitchcock Medical Center serve as our NH Kidney Walk Event Chair.
