OneStar Foundation and Leadership Austin Partner to Prepare OneStar Foundation: Texas Center for Social Impact is looking ahead to the nonprofit sector's future by partnering with Leadership Austin to offer nonprofit employees scholarships to high-level leadership training opportunities today. According to a new report by the Bridgespan Group, nonprofits are facing record challenges in recruiting and maintaining effective leadership. Their obstacles include shrinking budgets, retirements and unique nonprofit organizational cultures. But in order to strengthen the nonprofit sector and better prepare organizations that are facing both increased service demands and dwindling donations, strong and effective leadership must be developed. OneStar Foundation is proactively addressing the sector's need for leadership development by offering up to $15,000 in scholarships to the Essential Class offered by Leadership Austin. The exact amount will be based on available funding at the time awards are made. This nine-month leadership development experience offers current leaders a chance to develop and hone their skills while developing stronger relationships within and beyond the nonprofit sector. \"We are very grateful for the support of OneStar Foundation,\" says Heather McKissick, Leadership Austin's president and chief executive officer. \"Because of the scholarships they will provide, the nonprofit sector will continue to have a strong representation in the Essential Class, which is critical to our mission of refreshing the pipeline of trained community and civic leaders for Central Texas.\" More information on the Leadership Austin Essential Class can be found at www.leadershipaustin.org. OneStar Foundation: Texas Center for Social Impact focuses on increased results for the people served by the nonprofit sector through promotion of innovation, entrepreneurship, sound business practices, well-managed volunteer programs, research and rigorous evaluation. OneStar also serves as the state's National Service Commission administering the AmeriCorps grant program and serves as the Faith-Based and Community Initiative office. OneStar carries out its mission for state government as a supporting nonprofit of the Office of the Governor.
