Volunteers Needed for Restoration HOPE HomeFriday, November 20, 2009 - Friday, December 31, 2010Volunteers are needed to help with transportation, mentoring, and counseling for the young adults to live in The Hope House. We are in need of donations for vehicles, drivers to transport these young adults to the doctors, dentists, after school curriculums, and any other functions that may be going on with the home. We will be looking for people to be mentors, someone to guide them in the right direction to live a productive, normal life within our community. The person who develops spirit, mind, and body is more likely to become a productive member of society. We are in need of counselors to talk to our kids concerning their life controlling issues that they may have. All volunteer help will be greatly appreciated by both us and these young adults. Please contact Cheryl LaVecchio at (941) 204-4180 or email at cheryl_lavecchio@restorationroads.org. Thank you.

This monetary donation will be greatly appreciated by both our organization and the unaccompanied youth in transition, ages 18-24 of Charlotte County, FL. Four of these youth to live in our Punta Gorda home will either be either working toward graduating from a high school in Charlotte County, FL or will be continuing their education through Edison State College located in Punta Gorda, FL. All donations are tax deductible and we thank you in advance for your kind generosity in helping Restoration Roads Ministry, Inc. to operate a stable, warm and cozy home for our unaccompanied youth in transition of our county. If you would like to pledge an amount other than $25/month, we do accept pledges or one time donations in any amount. You may either send Restoration Roads Ministry, Inc. a check monthly, or a one time check for the total amount of the pledge for the year or make a pledge or donation online at www.restorationroads.org webpage link. Young Adults In Financial Hardship Given A Home This HolidaySome young adults aged 18-24 with no permanent homes will be roofed and supported to become independent and contributing citizens when Restoration Roads Ministry Inc. opens a home this holiday season. Starting this winter some youth aged 18-24 with no permanent homes will be kept warm and sheltered while finishing their high school, college or technical education in Charlotte County when Restoration Roads Ministry, Inc. (RRMI), a 501 (c) (3) IRS designated nonprofit organization, will open its first Restoration HOPE Home in Punta Gorda, Florida on December 17, 2009. The acronym HOPE stands for Helping Others Procure Education. RRMI has seen a tremendous gap in providing assistance for these young adults as they strive to be independent. While it may be true that they are chronologically mature and must be able to get on with life on their own, many people are unaware of their family histories and the challenges they have to undergo to achieve independent living. They were primarily unaccompanied and not in physical custody of a parent or guardian when they were minors. They have aged-out of foster care or of their natural homes and have to step into adult life in great financial hardship. Despite the few resources available, these young people have kept themselves off the streets, stayed in school and strived for an education either in a state college or technical school, or working on their GED. For each day these young people are without a permanent place to stay, is a day easier for them to be lured to the streets and be amongst the increasing unsheltered population in Charlotte County. The Charlotte County Public Schools (CCPS) Homeless Education Project identified 14 unaccompanied young adults in October 2009 and the number was expected to increase as a result of the economic downturn. With the opening of the Restoration HOPE Home in Punta Gorda, RRMI will offer shelter and programs for unaccompanied young adults for them to achieve their educational goals and financial independence, and in the process enrich their spiritual lives. RRMI is fast-tracking its preparation of the first Restoration HOPE Home to have these young adults roofed this winter. The organization is now qualifying male applicants to form the first batch of residents with the help of CCPS Homeless Education Project and Children's Network in Fort Myers, Florida. RRMI also maintains close coordination with Dr. Lucy Garner, the Homeless Youth and Family Liaison for CCPS.
