An enriching mainstay in the Mountain West, Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company is known locally and beyond for its contemporary, relevant and highly-physical aesthetic of modern dance along with its acclaimed reconstructions of Alwin Nikolais and its educational outreach.
Founded in 1964 by dance college professors Shirley Ririe and Joan Woodbury, the Company is currently
under the artistic direction of choreographer Charlotte Boye-Christensen. With a large repertory of works from local, national and internationally-renowned choreographers, the Company has toured regularly throughout the United States and overseas.
In 2003 the Company became the official repository of the celebrated works of American Treasure Alwin Nikolais.
More than 30,000 Utah school children are annually served in residencies and performances by the Company's corps of six dancers and Education Director Gigi Arrington. (more)
