Supportive HousingTRH makes available transitional housing unit to each participating family. The family pays approximately 30% of their income to cover housing and utility costs. Their rent is adjusted based on their income every six months. Each mother participates in instructional courses to aid in the development of financial literacy as well as family budgeting. Churches sponsor single-mother families by providing furniture and unit renovations as needed. TRH partners with other organizations to assist in securing permanent housing for participants when their stay at TRH concludes. Homeownership is encouraged for qualified families.
Team MentoringA Restoration House staff support couple lives on each site. Staff support couples’ responsibilities include the encouragement of a healthy community dynamic within the apartment complex. Support couples will also provide social opportunities for the mentee families to interact and build strong relationships. In addition to the support couple, local churches provide a diverse team of 8 to 12 mentors to walk alongside each mentee family. The mentor team provides emotional support throughout the service period and beyond. Having a diverse team of mentors allows for a broader spectrum of support. The support couples and mentors are crucial components contributing to the success of participating families.
Service PlanningThe Restoration House coordinates service planning. Participating families sign a contract outlining the basic limitations and expectations of the program. TRH develops an individualized service agreement with the participant identifying goals and action steps in areas such as employment, finances, life skills, and personal growth. They then meet weekly with their Restoration House Family Advocate. Additionally, TRH partners, on an as-needed basis, with community resources for job training, counseling, life skills, physical fitness, IDAs etc.,.
