The founders of VINS believed that an informed citizen makes positive choices to protect and preserve the natural environment. This credo became VINS’ mission, To protect our natural heritage through education and research designed to engage individuals and communities in the active care of their environment.
VINS is doing amazing things for children and the earth; 1. Environmental Education- school-based programs designed to engage children in pre-school through 12th grade in formative hands-on learning and through curriculum developed to address all ages, including adults; 2. Wildlife Services- free, professional care of wild injured birds brought to VINS by a network of volunteer rescuers and treated by VINS’ licensed rehabilitators or volunteer veterinarians for release back to the wild; 3. Environmental Research- fellowship programs for undergraduate students that support field research in ecological sciences and nurture growth of the environmental field as a whole.
