Sponsor a Child in NeedOur child sponsorship programs in Ethiopia, Guatemala, India, and the Philippines provide the unique opportunity to directly improve the life of a child. We know that sponsorship works as we have witnessed the amazing difference that it makes - one child at a time. Child sponsorship not only addresses the physical and educational needs of a child, but also contributes to family permanency, allowing children to stay with their families in the country in which they were born.
Ethiopia Food Shortage CrisisWide Horizons For Children has been working with our partner in Ethiopia on the best way to help alleviate the problems related to famine. Individuals and families wishing to make a donation to combat the food shortage are urged to make a contribution to the child sponsorship program. This program allows us an established venue to get food and other basic resources to those most in need. Children enrolled in the program are from the most destitute and impoverished families in their communities. Sponsorship funds go toward food, medical care, and other basic needs. Proper nutrition and medical care are especially crucial during a time of famine to prevent and treat malnutrition among children.
Rayo de Esperanza - A Campaign for GuatemalaThe closure of adoptions has put a new strain on the already impossible situation for at-risk children in Guatemala. Not only will many thousands of additional children be without homes and the prospect of a family, but facilities that have traditionally been supported through international adoption fees will have lost critical funding. This is a critical situation, one exacerbated by an overall worsening economic situation. In recognition of the emergency situation for children in Guatemala, Wide Horizons For Children is launching the Rayo de Esperanza (Ray of Hope) Campaign with a goal of raising $10,000 per month in emergency funding through December 2008.
