India is home to more than 1 billion people. A walk down one of Mumbai's streets will reveal contradictory scenes of amazing affluence and heart-rending poverty. In fact, despite strong economic growth in the last decade, India has the world's largest disparity between the rich and the poor. Most affected by poverty and social inequality are India's more than 445 million children.

%newline%To help combat these dire circumstances, WHFC has expanded humanitarian aid initiatives in India. We have been working in Maharashtra, India since 1975, and partner with two outstanding agencies, SOFOSH (Pune) and FSC (Mumbai), to fund projects that fit within our mission. Over the years we have developed a proven track record of successful projects through these partnerships. Our work has focused on child sponsorship and community development through FSC and supporting orphans and abandoned children with special needs through SOFOSH.(more)
