The Construction Training Program challenges Boston’s unemployed/underemployed and unskilled young people ages 18-24 to refocus their lives through job training and academic accreditation (GED or high school diploma.) The skills and construction training curriculum includes OSHA certification, rough and finish carpentry skills, and electives such as locksmithing and carpentry preservation provided by The North Bennett Street School. Students also participate in life skills workshops that include problem solving, conflict resolution, public health issues, budgeting and goal setting. Job development, career exploration and job placement are other components integral to the program. (more)
